I have enjoyed working in an educational setting for many years, this has included working in primary schools, secondary schools, pupil referal units and colleges of further education, up to degree level. My work with degree students has included audition training as well as directing productions such as 'Two' by Jim Cartwright, 'GAME' by Mike Bartlett, 'Stockholm' by Bryony Lavery and 'Sunday Morning at the Centre of the World' by Louis De Bernieres. I have also adapted classic texts for specific casts such as my version of Brecht's 'Good Person of Szechwan' and my modern adaptation of 'Lysistrata' by Aristophones. With secondary schools I have run devising workshops and created plays based on the experiences of the students involved, often combining them with groups of 'elders' from their community in inter-generational work, allowing the students to work alongside professional actors as part of the process. I have written a play about being excluded from school, inspired by work with students in a pupil referal unit, which then toured to secondary schools. I have been writer and designer of a work experience project for five years, creating an issue based play from scratch in a week and then touring it to local schools for a further week.
