Writing CV.
Potted History:
My interest in writing grew out of devised work with Forest Forge Theatre Company, where I was Associate Director. I have written and directed many professionally produced plays as well as large-scale community pieces and work for younger performers, including youth theatres and university students. I have created many plays based on interview and reminiscence, here I speak to members of the community, then shape their stories into plays, that then get performed back to the communities that inspired them. I have written several issue-based plays with groups of young people that developed out of a devising process with the cast. I have also adapted classic stories for the stage, re-written classic plays for modern audiences, as well as created original pieces of my own. I lead drama and creative writing workshops for all ages.
I now live in Manchester, working as a freelance theatre maker. In recent years I have written my first novel, several short stories and pieces of micro fiction plus dramas for on-line performance. I also work as a writing mentor.

‘The Ark and the Dove’ Touring one-woman show, a storytelling piece about early settlers in America.
‘Little Red Riding Hood’ Forest Forge Theatre and BumbleFly Theatre.
‘Winter Came’ Longlisted for Bruntwood Prize 2019. A play about Love, Death, Bipolar and long-distance running.

‘Battle Lines’ Trilogy for Forest Forge Theatre Company about a community during a century of wartime, created over a year of research and interviews.
‘The Call Up’ Directed by Kirstie Davis, A small village community experiences the First World War, a story told by Edwardian music hall performers.
‘Keep Smiling Through’ Directed by Lucy Phillips. Three evacuees tell their story of WW2 through playground games.
‘In Our Name’ Directed by David Haworth. The challenges presented by modern war to a community, seen through the eyes of a Military Wives choir.
‘Celebrate!’ For Andover Lights Arts Centre Community Project.
Looking at the ways a community celebrates events. Partly devised with year 10 students and elders of the community.

A play about the lives of excluded children. Based on interviews and workshops with students from a pupil referral unit as well as other students in danger of permanent exclusion from secondary school.

‘The Good Person of Boscombe’ For Bournemouth and Poole college, Contemporary Theatre Degree students. A modern version of Brecht’s ‘Good Person of Szechwan’
‘Lysistrata’ For Bournemouth and Poole College, Contemporary Theatre Degree students. A modern version of the classic anti-war play by Aristophanes.
I have also directed degree students in plays such as ‘GAME’ By Mike Bartlett and ‘Stockholm’ by Bryony Lavery, ‘Sunday Morning at the Centre of the World’ By Louis de Bernieres, and ‘Two’ By Jim Cartwright.
